(UPDATED) To offer enhanced services to several government agencies for their member contributors, the Philippine Government has launched the UMID (Unified Multi-Purpose ID) Card. 

UMID helps to provide a unique identity card to member contributors, as well as a valid ID. Featuring a shared database between several government agencies, including the Social Security System (SSS), the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), and the Pag-IBIG Fund (Home Development Mutual Fund), it makes it easier for everyone to transact with said agencies.

In addition to serving as an identity card for transactions with the aforementioned agencies and other places of business, UMID cards also serve as an ATM bank account through the SSS UMID Pay Card. This is helpful, especially for new members who do not yet have a bank account

What is UMID Card?

Sometimes referred to as an SSS ID, UMID Card is an identity card in the Philippines that is considered a primary valid-government-issued document for individuals who are members of the Social Security System (SSS). Said card was institutionalized on January 16, 2008, and directed SSS as the primary government agency to facilitate UMID.

Currently, UMID Card serves as a single card for relations between several government agencies, particularly, SSS, GSIS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG. It can also be used in a variety of transactions in both the public and private sectors because it is sufficient proof of an individual's identity in the Philippines.

Who may apply for a UMID Card?

SSS members who want to apply for a UMID card must first have at least one contribution posted to their account. GSIS members (government employees) and pensioners/retirees are also eligible to apply for a UMID card.

For updates and lost UMID Cards

According to SSS, members who have lost their cards or need to update them may apply for a new UMID Card, but a P200 replacement fee is required.

For members who applied for SS numbers online

If you applied for a Social Security number online before December 10, 2020, you are exempt from completing the UMID Application Form. 

You simply need to schedule a biometric data capture appointment through the My.SSS Appointment System. You must bring your printed SS Number application and the transaction number slip to your appointment.

How to get a UMID ID online in the Philippines this 2022?

You can easily obtain a UMID using the MySSS online platform if you already have a social security number. Simply log in to your account, then go to the "appointment system" option under "member info," and fill out the necessary information.

Step 1 - Go to the SSS Member Portal or MySSS and log in to your account

Go to sss.gov.ph and click on the "member" button to access the MySSS portal to schedule your UMID online appointment. You can also go straight to https://member.sss.gov.ph/members/.

To begin, visit the SSS Member Portal (MySSS) at https://member.sss.gov.ph/members/ and log in to your account. If you don't already have an SSS account or SS number, you can sign up here: https://member.sss.gov.ph/members/rcsmi/main.html.

Step 2 - Go to the "Member Info" tab and choose "Appointment System"

To schedule an online appointment and get a UMID ID, go to "Member Info" and select "Appointment System" from the drop-down menu.

After logging in to MySSS, you must navigate to the "member info" tab and then select "appointment system" from the drop-down menu. You will be redirected to a form where you must enter the required information, including your 'appointment purpose' and preferred SSS branch.

Step 3 - Complete the form by filling out the required information 

On the "member appointments" page, select "application for UMID" from the drop-down menu as the appointment purpose. Select your region and preferred branch afterward.

Once you're redirected to the appointment form, choose "Application for Unified Multi-purpose Identification (UMID) Card" from the purposes. You just need to click "purposes" and scroll down to a list of options to do this.

Schedule an appointment and choose from the available dates.

Upon choosing your purpose, you can select the region where you reside, your preferred SSS Branch, and your appointment date. When you choose an "appointment date," a calendar will appear on which you can select the date that still has an available slot. 

After selecting an appointment date, select an available time slot and enter your concern in the textbox. Once finished, click the "Submit" button.

Step 4 - Save or print your appointment details

Save and print your appointment details because you will need to present it when you visit your preferred SSS branch.

Once you have successfully set up an appointment with SSS, you must take note of your appointment details. It will be shown on the next page once you have completed the appointment process, and an email will also be sent to your registered email address. 

You can either save it to your phone or print it so you can easily show it on the day of your appointment.

Step 5 - Proceed to your chosen SSS branch on the day of your appointment

After completing the online UMID application, you must visit your preferred SSS branch to complete your application and receive your UMID card.

Now all you have to do is wait for your appointment date and time. When the day arrives, go to the SSS branch where you made your appointment. You must also arrive at the SSS branch at least fifteen minutes before your appointment time and present your SS Card (if available), two valid IDs, and at least one photo for authentication.

You can also fill out the Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID) card application in advance by downloading and printing the form.

After completing all required steps and procedures, you must wait for the UMID card to be delivered to the address you provided. Typically, delivery takes two weeks within Metro Manila or NCR and four weeks outside of Metro Manila.

How to get a UMID for GSIS members?

There is a different procedure for GSIS members to obtain a UMID card. To do this, visit a GSIS Branch and apply for a UMID Card. You must also bring two valid government-issued identification cards.

After completing the registration process for applying for a UMID Card, you must wait for an SMS confirmation indicating when you can pick up your GSIS UMID Card. You must claim the card in person and bring a valid ID.

What are the requirements to get a UMID ID?

As mentioned previously, you must be a member of SSS or GSIS to obtain a UMID Card. Additionally, your account must contain at least one month of posted contributions. You only need two valid IDs ( to meet the requirements; if you have an SSS ID, you must also present it.
