TACLOBAN CITY — At least 58 child laborers from Catarman, Northern Samar, benefited from the Department of Labor and Employment-Northern Samar Field Office's Project Angel Tree, which was held on July 19, 2022, at the Annex Building of Catarman Cathedral Parish.

Mr. Virgilio A. Doroja Jr., DOLE-NSFO Head, and Mr. Renato Esidera, Executive Administrator of LGU-Catarman, representing Mayor Francisco Aurelio Rosales III, graced the event in honor of National Nutrition Month.

Doroja emphasized the Department of Labor's commitment to the prevention and abolition of child labor in the country in his welcome message. He also thanked the local government and the generous sponsors, dubbed "angels."

"We are grateful to LGU-Catarman and all the private establishments that joined us in this important activity for our dear children. This will not be possible without your help," Doroja stated.

Dr. Blessie Dana C. Norona, Municipal Nutritionist and event guest speaker, emphasized the importance of nutrition in Filipino children. She also shared some essential hygiene routines for children as they enter adolescence.

Each child laborer, accompanied by their parents/guardians, received a grocery pack, school supplies, and clothing thanks to the generosity of the "angels," which included LGU-Catarman, Great Buys, Baldos Electronics, 578 Emporium, and Jana's General Merchandise. —iTacloban (Source: DOLE -8)
