TACLOBAN CITY – During the two-day payout facilitated by the city government of Tacloban, indigent beneficiaries received three thousand pesos (PHP3,000) each as part of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

A total of 1444 people received financial aid in the form of cash. 1000 recipients received subsidies on July 12, while the remaining 444 received cash assistance on July 13.

According to the City Information Office, Fe Chona Bahin, City Social Welfare and Development Officer, stated that the funds had already been downloaded prior to the election period. Beneficiaries, on the other hand, have only recently received their assistance due to the election ban.

Beneficiaries include indigent parents raising their children alone, victims of violence against women and children, senior citizens, and people with disabilities (PWDs).

The DSWD provides protective services for the poor, the marginalized, and those who are vulnerable or disadvantaged. AICS is one of those programs. —iTacloban (Source: CIO)
