TACLOBAN CITY –A delivery rider, whose name was withheld for security reasons, turned over suspected shabu to the Tacloban City Police Office on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.

According to a police report, an unidentified male client from Gurami Street, Phase 4, V&G Subdivision, Tacloban City, requested the delivery of a Winston cigarette pack wrapped in a white plastic bag from Kalipayan, Brgy. 62-B Sagkahan, Tacloban City.

The delivery rider doubted that the package was empty based on its appearance and weight after receiving it. Because of his curiosity, he opened the package before delivering it. He discovered a clear plastic sachet containing a white crystalline substance that he believed to be 'shabu.'

Subsequently, he reported and immediately turned the item to TCPO for disposition.

Elements of the Special Drug Enforcement Unit-Police Station 2-TCPO, led by PLT REY T BALDICANO JR., were dispatched along with the concerned delivery rider to conduct a follow-up investigation for possible identification of the sender and the recipient of the said item.

However, despite extensive efforts, both unidentified clients did not appear at the arranged meeting location with the delivery rider.

The suspected shabu will be submitted to Forensics Unit 8 for Chemical Analysis; Quantitative and Qualitative Examination.

Despite the failure to identify suspects, PBGEN BERNARD M. BANAC, Regional Director of PRO 8, commended the cooperation of the driver and the prompt response of TCPO personnel.

“I am still grateful to the [delivery] driver for trusting our Office. Indeed, support and cooperation from the community are vital in maintaining the peace and order of the place. Our Office is 24/7 open to serve you,” RD BANAC said. —Tacloban News Update  (Source: PRO-8)
