TACLOBAN – The City Government of Tacloban, through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO), will begin accepting applications for the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) on a first-come, first-served basis on February 22, 2022.

According to PESO, there are only 161 summer employment slots available this year, but they will accept up to 200 registrants for validation and screening. Applicants with registration numbers 162-200, on the other hand, will be considered waitlisted.

The following are the requirements for the summer job program:

  • must be between the ages of 15 and 30;
  • must be a resident of Tacloban City;
  • must be enrolled with outstanding/passing grades;
  • Parents' combined net income after taxes does not exceed the most recent annual poverty line for a family of six (6), which is P 149, 874.00; and
  • Non-4P beneficiaries

The official venue for the event, City Engineer's Gymnasium, will open for registration at 8:30 in the morning. Applicants must bring their own pen, follow strict health protocols, wear appropriate facemasks, and practice social distancing.

SPES is a youth employment-bridging program that aims to provide temporary employment to poor but deserving students during summer and/or Christmas vacation or at any time of year to supplement the family's income and help beneficiaries continue their education.

Registration will be automatically closed once the first 200 registrants have been reached, according to the office. Screening and interviews will follow, and they will start the queue at 8:30 a.m., with no reservations. —Tacloban News Update (Source: Tacloban PESO)
