NEWS — Many people have been in tears since the COVID-19 pandemic started because some of us lose our jobs, savings, and even businesses. So lucky are those who have found a way to earn a lot of money like the 22-year-old Filipina who became a millionaire because of online selling through Facebook live.

In a report by Mariz Umali on GMA News “24 Oras” on Wednesday, Joyce Sibayan shared her inspiring story. She said that she could not believe that she's already a millionaire at a very young age after selling online through live streaming for more than a year.

"Hindi ko ini-expect na maaabot ko siya kasi akala ko medyo matagal pa. Tapos sabi ng teller [sa bangko], 'hala, milyonarya ka na sobrang bata mo namang maabot yan, (I didn't expect to reach millions because I thought it would take a long time. Then the teller [at the bank] said, 'Wow, you're a millionaire. At a very young age, you are already successful.),'" she happily said in the news feature.

But it was not easy before Sibayan achieved success. She shared that she also experienced setbacks like the closure of her previous businesses.

(Sibayan showed her bank account in the news feature of 24 Oras.)

"Meron pong times na nag-breakdown po ako and nawala nga po ako sa sarili dahil sunod-sunod yung nangyayari din sa business ko. (There were times when I had a breakdown and I lost myself because a lot of [bad]things were happening in my business one after another,|)" he said.

Among the things she tried to sell were chili garlic oil, pre-loved clothes, and cosmetics.

She also remembers the time when she was called a "bad influence" when he was young. She said that her parents even reported her to the police about what she was doing.

But these trials also paved the way for her to persevere over time.

After some failure, she tried selling online through live streaming on Facebook and it became a huge hit for her.

According to Sibayan, trials must be faced to achieve the desired success.

"Hindi po talaga ako magaling sa academics. (I'm not really good at academics,)" she admitted. "Ang totoo pong importante sa buhay is madiskarte ka, masipag at matiyaga ka. (The really important thing in life is to be strategic, hardworking and patient.)" she added. —Tacloban News Update/Viral (Source: GMA News)
