NEWS— The continuous rain showers brought by a low-pressure area (LPA) and the tail-end of a frontal system (Shear line) caused flooding in several areas in Eastern Visayas, including Palo, Tacloban, and towns in Northern Samar.
Because of the heavy downpours, some households in Brgy. Caloogan, Palo, Leyte are submerged in floodwaters where an elderly man was trapped inside their house and wasn't able to evacuate.
A netizen named Charlie Cabañas asked for immediate action to rescue his grandfather who was stuck on a rooftop during a flood. His post garnered attention and was able to gain the sympathy of several Facebook users who called to save the man.

Later on, the elderly man was rescued by villagers in the barangay who took the risk to save the old man's life. Netizens were glad that he was rescued immediately and thank the swift action of the locals nearby.

Meanwhile, other areas in Leyte and Samar are still experiencing flooding due to the downpours caused by the combined effects of the LPA and shear line. The general public is advised by PAGASA to take precautionary measures. iTacloban
