TACLOBAN CITY - A potential new typhoon, to be named #TonyoPH, is threatening to form inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and possibly make landfall in the country this coming weekend as Typhoon "SIONY" leaves PAR.

The active Low-Pressure Area (LPA) in the Pacific Ocean continues to intensify and heading towards Eastern Visayas and may likely make landfall in the said region on Saturday afternoon or evening (Nov 7-8) and cross the whole Visayas and Southern Luzon.

The low-pressure area (LPA) is still outside PAR as of this morning. According to PAG-ASA, it is now 1,600 kilometers east of the Visayas.  It could develop into a tropical depression within 48 to 72 hours, according to the weather bureau.

“Tonyo” will be the second tropical cyclone to enter or form within the PAR this month and the 20th for this year.

PAGASA advised the public to continue monitoring the severe weather bulletins to be released regarding this weather disturbance due to possible change in the scenario.
