Gaisano opens new Metro mall in Tacloban City

TACLOBAN CITY — Cebu-based retailer Metro Retail Stores Group, Inc. finally opened its first full-scale mall in Tacloban City last Friday, November 20. The said mall is the fourth establishment in the City that bears the Gaisano-name.


“The operation of the Metro Gaisano in Tacloban will not only help the city government in terms of taxes but will also create more job opportunities and generate livelihood as well,”  Tabao, chief of staff of Mayor Alfred Romualdez, said in an interview on 2016.


Metro, is the biggest retailer in the Visayas and the fourth largest in the Philippines, the said conglomerate planned to open new stores in different parts of Visayas. Three other Gaisano-owned shopping malls operate in Tacloban — the Gaisano Capital, Gaisano Real and Gaisano Central.


On a separate report, Frank Gaisano, CEO of MRSG said; “For 37 years, our company has evolved rapidly, thanks to the support of our stakeholders, customers, and employees. Marching into the future, we commit to delivering a strong performance, while helping elevate not only the shopping experience of Filipinos but also their quality of life with more sustainable practices that can positively benefit everyone."


The Metro mall is located in the former location of renowned Bethany Hospital and currently, the department store and supermarket are fully operational. iTacloban
