Couple in Tacloban City arrested for possession of shabu, marijuana worth 720k

TACLOBAN CITY — Two suspects were arrested by anti-drug operatives in Tacloban City on Tuesday, March 9. Confiscated from them are marijuana and 100 grams of shabu with an estimated worth of P 720,000.

Tacloban Police director Colonel Darwin Miranda said in a report: “This significant accomplishment will prevent the proliferation of illegal drugs particularly in Tacloban City and will surely save the lives of our children from drug addiction."

The suspects were identified by Tacloban City Police Station 2-Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) as Jovit Andacahao, 29, unemployed; and his girlfriend, Marian Martinez, 19, a saleslady. Both are residents of Tacloban City.

Martinez and Andacahao were arrested during a buy-bust operation in Barangay 21 of the same city, around 9:30 am, according to a police report.

Authorities were also able to recover a black sling bag containing boodle money worth P100 thousand used as buy-bust money; two heat-sealed sachets of suspected marijuana; 23 more heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu; a weighing scale colored grey and two tooters.

The suspects will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the
