Netizens call out Tacloban garbage woes

As a highly urbanized city with continuous development, people should learn to adapt to change and this includes self-discipline. Why? Because the current garbage woes in Tacloban City,  no matter how small or large, needs to be addressed.

A Facebook post by Mariel Cerdeña Obregon calling out Taclobanons have made rounds on the internet. She wrote:

This is definitely not a sight to behold, but I will share it anyway.
This is my view while patiently lining up waiting for a multicab going to Peerless from school (work) earlier. This isn't the first time I had a view like this, but this is definitely my wake up call to do something.
FRIENDS, WE DON'T DESERVE THIS KIND OF VIEW. WE SHOULD NOT JUST ACCEPT THIS REALITY. AND JUST SETTLE BECAUSE WE THINK THERE ARE NO SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEM LIKE THESE? THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO WILL CLEAN UP OUR WASTES IN OUR BEHALF? C'mon, WE CAN DO MORE. WE ARE CAPABLE OF DOING MORE.
Let us OWN this problem, and personally DO SOMETHING about this, even in our own little ways. Reduce your plastic intake, opt for reusables, do not settle for one time use utensils, cups, packaging, etc. LET US ALL BE MINDFUL OF OUR ACTIONS. I know this issue can be on a larger scale and can also be caused by big establishments/businesses, but can we at least do our part on mindful and minimal-zero waste consumption? I know it isn't easy, specially in this City. But I know, IT IS POSSIBLE.

Certain people have also weighted on the issue:

Maria Shiela Diaz Meneses commented "The city government should implement strict rules when it comes to this. Self discipline mus start from us. Everyone of us."

Sad because it's true. People still didn't learn the lessons of Typhoon Yolanda. It is time that we should take care of our environment and surroundings if we don't want another calamity again.
